Free Your Movement with Feldenkrais®

Harold Tausch

Sunday, Oct. 28 from 1 to 5 p.m.

$60 plus HST

Developed over a period of 40 years by Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, an Israeli scientist and martial arts expert, the Feldenkrais Method® is a powerful and engaging means of regaining, improving and refining movement. We are all creatures of habit. For most of us, the movement habits we have learned are far from ideal. Through gentle, relaxing movement explorations, the Feldenkrais Method helps people to develop better movement habits, increase their flexibility, improve their posture, and to rediscover the kind of grace and pleasure in movement they experienced as a child. The workshop will consist of a series of Awareness Through Movement® lessons where participants are verbally led through a series of slow, gentle movements designed to bring habitual movement patterns back into awareness and to introduce easier, lighter, and better organized alternatives.

Harold Tausch attended the New York Feldenkrais Professional Training program from 1987 to 1991 and maintains a private practice and teaches classes and workshops in Toronto with occasional forays to Sault Ste. Marie. He became interested in movement in his early twenties, beginning with the study of yoga and them moving on to modern dance and theatre and discovered Feldenkrais in his thirties. He continues to be fascinated by our movement possibilities and is currently involved in contact improvisation, free-style dancing, acting, music, and squash.Harold brings a warm, relaxing presence and a sense of fun to his workshops. Over the years, he has taught workshops and classes all over Ontario as well as at the Omega Institute in New York and Dance New England Dance Camp.

Restorative Yoga Class

Lynn Mighton

Tuesday, Sept. 25 from 7:45 to 9:15 p.m.

Restorative Yoga is a deeply relaxing style of yoga practice. It is a “passive” practice where the body is held in gentle poses with the aid of blankets, bolsters and other props. Poses are held for longer periods of time allowing students to move into a place of deep release and relaxation. This calming practice helps restore balance to the nervous system. It is a perfect class for everyone including those dealing with chronic stress, fatigue, anxiety, recovering from illness, injury or significant life changes.
